SAINTS REMAIN PERFECT IN PBC PLAY, SWEEP 'CANES
North Georgia outscores the home squad, 14-1, to pick up the doubleheader sweep
AMERICUS, Ga. - North Georgia College & State University remained undefeated in Peach Belt Conference by sweeping Georgia Southwestern State University here Friday evening.
In game one, the Saints claimed a 4-0 victory over the Hurricanes. Senior Andrea Moss (12-3) picked up the victory in the first game. Moss scattered three hits in the complete game. She did not allow a walk and faced just 23 batters throughout the game - two batters over the minimum.
Sophomore Whitney Propes led the Saints at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored in the victory.
The Saints ended game two in six innings, defeating the Hurricanes 10-1 behind freshman Nicole Adkison's (5-2) complete game victory on the mound.
Sophomore Page Raynor continued her hot-hitting as she went 3-for-4 with a run batted in and two doubles (her team-leading 10th of the season). Sophomore Meigan Grimm and freshman Leslee Smith each went 3-for-4, with Grimm picking up a double and Smith a run batted in.
The big blow for the 'Canes came via the bat of North Georgia freshman catcher Natasha Willemse. The freshman went 1-for-3, but the one hit was a three-run triple that broke the game open for North Georgia.
North Georgia (21-10, 6-0 PBC) returns to action Sunday in Peach Belt Conference play at USC Aiken.
