NORTH GEORGIA SWEPT BY GCSU ON ROAD IN KEY PBC CONTESTS
Saints drop to fourth in the conference standings with two games to play
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University was swept by Georgia College & State University in a doubleheader here in Peach Belt Conference softball action here Thursday night. The games were the first of eight in four days.
The Bobcats used a four-run third inning to run away with a 5-0 victory in game one, behind the hitting of Keidra Baitey and the pitching of Mandy Chandler.
Baitey went 3-for-3 for GCSU, with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Meanwhile, Chandler improved to 19-7 with the victory, pitching a complete game and striking out 10.
Andrea Moss (18-9) was the hard-luck loser for North Georgia, going six innings and allowing five runs. Only one of the runs on the night was earned, due to three errors committed by the Saints in the field. Leslee Smith, Brittany Cobb (double), Jessica Skeels and Krista Goodlet all collected hits for North Georgia in the opener.
In game two, GCSU (32-16, 12-6 PBC) used the hitting of twin sisters Deidra and Keidra Baitey to a 6-0 victory.
Diedra went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while her sister Keidra went 2-for-2 with four runs batted in. Libby Kidd (5-5) registered the victory on the mound with a complete game five-hitter.
Page Raynor led the Saints at the plate going 2-for-4, while Whitney Propes (4-4) suffered the loss on the mound.
North Georgia (29-18, 11-7 PBC) returns to action on Friday afternoon in the X-Trem Graphics Fastpitch Softball Tournament beginning at 3 pm at the NGCSU Softball Complex.
