SAINTS SPLIT ON SECOND DAY OF CATAWBA TOURNAMENT
Davenport sitting at win number 249 at North Georgia
SALISBURY, N.C. - North Georgia College & State University split their games on the second and final day of the Catawba Tournament here Sunday afternoon.
The Saints opened the day with an 8-2 victory over Barton College, improving to 12-3 on the season. Nicole Adkison (1-0) picked up her first collegiate victory in the game, relieving starter Andrea Moss in the fourth inning. Freshman Laura Voyles continued her hot-hitting, going 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and three runs scored. Freshman outfielder Whitney Propes went 4-for-4 with three runs scored in the game one victory.
In game two, North Georgia fell to Wingate University 5-4, falling to 12-4 on the season. Propes (2-2) suffered the loss for the Saints. Junior outfielder Candace Shubert led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and a run batted. Junior outfielder Brittany Cobb went 2-for-4 with a double and a run batted in.
North Georgia (12-4, 4-0 PBC) returns to action Friday afternoon in the Fun In The Sun Tournament in Bradenton, Florida. The Saints will play seven games in three days during tournament play.
