CANCER AWARENESS DAY
Softball to honor cancer survivors
Dahlonega, GA - The North Georgia College & State University softball team announced today that it will hold the first annual Cancer Awareness Day on March 27. The event will take place on the same day that the Saints take on Augusta State University in a softball doubleheader beginning at 2 pm.
"We are very excited and appreciative to have the Augusta State softball team and coaches participate in this event as we hope to do our part in fighting the battle," North Georgia head coach Mike Davenport said. "Many people are affected by this disease and we want to somehow make a difference - we want to educate ourselves, our players and our fans. We also want to assist in helping find a cure for this disease."
North Georgia will recognize those in attendance who are currently fighting the battle with cancer - two large signs will displayed with a ribbon demonstrating the different colors which represent the different types of cancer. To represent Breast Cancer, the Saints will be wearing a Pink Uniform Jersey during the doubleheader, with other special events scheduled.
