#1 SAINTS BREEZE PAST #8 BRENAU 10-0
Rome, Ga. – Using an eight run second inning, first seed North Georgia College & State University ran past eighth seed Brenau University 10-0 in the first round of the Southern States Athletic Conference Softball Tournament.
Junior shortstop Lynsey Thompson led the Saints (1-0) after going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Junior first baseman Lara Seamon also went 2-for-3 and chipped in two RBIs and one run scored.
North Georgia senior starting pitcher Beth Willis pitched a complete game shutout and only allowed one hit while striking out four batters. Golden Tigers (0-1) starting pitcher Necole Clay took the loss after allowing three earned runs off of 10 hits.
The Saints move onto the second round of the winner's bracket to face Georgia Southwestern tomorrow at noon. BU falls to the loser's bracket and will take on Reinhardt College in the first elimination game.
