#10 SAINTS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT CONFERENCE SERIES
WITH WIN OVER GOLDEN TIGERS

Dahlonega, Ga. – 10th ranked North Georgia College & State University won their sixth consecutive game as they swept Brenau University 9-4 and 10-0 at the NGCSU Softball Complex.

Game 1

The Saints (31-12, 19-1) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first inning and finished off the Golden Tigers (10-20, 6-20) 9-4 in the first game. Sophomore designated player Bronwyn Miller (Woodstock, Ga.) highlighted the first inning with a two run homer to give North Georgia a 3-0 lead. Freshman right fielder Candace Shubert (Colbert, Ga.) knocked in two runs off of a single to left field to close out the scoring in the inning.

BC scored a single run in the third inning off of a RBI double from freshman Halee Gamble (Villa Rica, Ga.). The Saints came back with another run in the bottom half of the inning to make the score 7-1. North Georgia scored again in the fifth inning to go up 8-1.

The Golden Tigers and Saints traded runs in the sixth inning after freshman third baseman Megan Shuler (Gainesville, Ga.) homered and freshman center fielder Brittney Cobb (Oxford, Ga.) scored. North Georgia led 9-2 heading into the top of the seventh inning, but was unable to shut down BU before freshman center fielder Dana Woodall (Dawsonville, Ga.) tripled to score a run and later scored herself to make the game 9-4. Saints freshman reliever Rachel Bridges (Lexington, Ga.) forced the final ground out to end the game and give North Georgia the win.

Brown picked up the in after going five inning and allowing four earned runs off of seven hits while striking out five. Freshman starting pitcher Nicole Clay (Gainesville, Ga.) took the loss after pitching a complete game and allowing eight earned runs off of 13 hits.

Game 2

The Saints scored 10 runs in a three-inning span to take the second game of the double header 10-0. Cobb and junior shortstop Lynsey Thompson (Dacula, Ga.) each had three hits in the game and combined for five runs. Senior second baseman Annie Ball (Marietta, Ga.), Miller, and freshman third baseman Brittany Barnes (Lawrenceville, Ga.) each had two hits in the game.

Senior starting pitcher Beth Willis (Williamson, Ga.) picked up her 20th win of the season and ninth shutout of the year. Willis went four innings of work and allowed only three hits and struck out nine batters. Clay took the loss for BU after allowing nine earned runs off of 15 hits.

The Saints play again tomorrow as they host #20 Lee University at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow evening. BU finishes their regular season and will play again on April 21 in the first round of the conference tournament hosted by Berry College.
