WILLIS NAMED SSAC PITCHER OF THE WEEK FOR SECND CONSECUTIVE WEEK
Dahlonega, Ga. – For the third time this season, and second in two weeks, North Georgia College & State University pitcher Beth Willis is the Southern States Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Willis, a senior from Williamson, Ga., pitched 37 1/3 innings of work this past week in the Saints eight games last week. She finished 6-0 on the week and helped lead North Georgia to their fourth consecutive conference title. In the SSAC, Willis was a perfect 17-0 and leads the conference in strikeouts, wins, and opposing batting average. In her eight games pitched, she allowed only three earned runs, 19 hits, and struck out 45 batters while only walking five.
The Saints are currently ranked ninth in the NAIA with a 36-13 record and will have a number one seed heading into the SSAC Softball Tournament beginning on Thursday. After posting a 24-2 conference mark, North Georgia looks to win its third consecutive conference tournament championship.
