BETH WILLIS NAMED SSAC SOFTBALL
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Dahlonega, Ga. – Senior pitcher Beth Willis of North Georgia College & State University was selected as this week's Southern States Athletic Conference softball “Pitcher of the Week” for her performance on the diamond last week.
Willis, a senior from Williamson, Ga., went 2-0 in four starts this week, all against ranked opponents. She pitched seven innings in each of her two wins and allowed only two earned runs in those wins. Against #10 Bacone she allowed only one hit and no runs while striking out 11 batters in a 3-0 win. In the Saints 6-2 win over #16 William Woods, Willis struck out 10 batters and scattered seven hits and allowed only two runs. In four appearances last week she had a 2.75 ERA with 32 strikeouts and only 14 hits in 21.1 innings of work.
The 11th ranked Saints are 9-6 overall and will have their first home game on Thursday against Southern Wesleyan for Military Appreciation Day.
“Player of the Week” is voted on by the conference Sports Information Directors and are nominated by the conference coaches and SID's.
