THOMPSON NAMED SSAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dahlonega, Ga. – Junior shortstop Lynsey Thompson of North Georgia College & State University was selected as this week's Southern States Athletic Conference softball “Player of the Week” for her performance on the diamond last week.
Thompson, a native of Dacula, Georgia, led the Saints to a 3-1 record last week. She batted .500 in 12 at-bats with three runs scored, two doubles, one triple, and four RBI's. Thompson had game winning walk-off triple vs. Spring Hill College in bottom of 7 th to give North Georgia a 3-2 win. She is currently second on the team in batting with a .500 batting average and is first on the team in hits (17), runs (13), RBI's (15), and home runs (2).
The 11 th ranked Saints are 6-3 overall early in the season and will play again on March 1 in Athens, Tennessee against Tennessee Wesleyan College.
“Player of the Week” is voted on by the conference Sports Information Directors and are nominated by the conference coaches and SID's.
