SAINTS FALL TO NATIONALLY-RANKED GCSU
Lumezeanu pushes five singles to three sets
GAINESVILLE, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University dropped a pair of tennis matches to nationally-ranked Georgia College & State University here Sunday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference action.
The ninth-ranked GCSU women’s team (14-1, 6-1 PBC) defeated the Lady Saints (1-9, 0-5 PBC) 9-0. Lilia Tzuetanova fell at #1 singles to 14th-ranked Celin Martin 6-0, 6-1. Martin improves to 11-3 on the season.
In other singles action, Sara Skagegard defeated North Georgia's Katherine Harrison 6-0, 6-1; Marjorie Ceppo defeated North Georgia's Maria Dreaden 6-3, 6-1; Anna Davidsson defeated North Georgia's Caitie Murphy 6-1, 6-0; Sofia Intriago defeated North Georgia's Cassie Martin 6-0, 6-1; and Gabriela Acuna defeated North Georgia's Jenny Bridges 6-0, 6-1.
The 19th-ranked GCSU men’s squad (11-2, 3-2 PBC) blanked NGCSU (3-8, 0-5 PBC) 9-0, escaping with a victory at #5 singles. Vlad Lumezeanu took Joao Casagrande to three sets before falling 7-5, 2-6, 1-6 at the #5 spot for North Georgia. In other singles action, Erick Siquiera defeated Sam Moore 6-1, 6-2 at #1 singles; Giovane Nuccie defeated North Georgia's Jake Eastwood 6-3, 6-1 at #2 singles; 35th-ranked Rodrigo Yamauti defeated Marijn Bal 6-0, 6-0 at #3 singles; Maxsim Beliankou defeated Gustavo Carballal 6-0, 6-4 at #4; and Melvin Smith defeated North Georgia's William Davis 6-0, 6-2 at #6 singles.
