LADY SAINTS CLAIM 9-0 VICTORY, SAINTS FALL TO GSW
Lady Saints pick up first PBC victory of the season
AMERICUS, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University picked up their first victory in Peach Belt Conference women's tennis action, defeating Georgia Southwestern State University 9-0 here Thursday afternoon.
A match that was originally scheduled the afternoon that tornadoes swept through south Alabama and Georgia, was rescheduled for this afternoon and went off without a hitch.
Lilia Tzuetanova, Maria Dreaden, Katherine Harrison, Caitie Murphy, Amey Kearns and Jenny Bridges each won their singles and doubles matches for the sweep. The easiest day was recorded by Kearns and Bridges, partners at #3 doubles. The duo only lost four games combined out of 36 possible games.
However, on the men's side, North Georgia fell short in their quest for a Peach Belt Conference victory as they fell to Georgia Southwestern 5-4 late Thursday afternoon.
The Saints won two-of-three doubles points due in part to victories at number one by Jacob Eastwood and Gustavo Carballal, and at number two by Marijn Bal and Sam Moore. However, the Hurricanes won four-of-six singles matches, including a three-set thriller at number four singles.
North Georgia returns to action on Sunday, as they travel to Presbyterian College on Sunday.
