BOBCATS WIN 9-0 OVER SAINTS
Milledgeville, Ga. - The Georgia College & State University tennis team won 9-0 over North Georgia College & State University Tuesday in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader on March 7. North Georgia’s record now stands at 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
The GC&SU won all three doubles matches to start things off and then won all six singles matches in straight sets. In doubles play GC&SU’s Rodrigo Yamauti and Marcelo Ferreira defeated C.J. Weaver and Vlad Lumezeanu 8-6 at No. 1, while Brandon Lee and Renato Oliveira defeated Gustavo Carballal and Michael Cooper 8-2 at No. 2. Mariano Cebrian and Melvin Smith won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles over Alex Rodas and Justin Davis.
In singles play, Yamauti blanked Lumezeanu 6-0; 6-0 at No. 1, while Lee defeated Weaver 6-2; 6-0 at No. 2. Ferreira defeated Carballal 6-1; 6-3 at No. 3, while Cebrian defeated Cooper 6-3; 6-0 at No. 4. Smith defeated Rodas 6-0; 6-2 in the No. 5 spot, and Oliveira won 6-0; 6-1 against Davis at No. 6.
North Georgia will host conference opponent USC Upstate this Saturday, March 11. The match begins at 2:00 p.m.
