NORTH GEORGIA DEFEATS BREVARD 8-1 IN MEN’S TENNIS
Dahlonega, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University got their NCAA career off on the right foot as they defeated Brevard College 8-1 Friday afternoon on the NGCSU Tennis Court.
In doubles action, the Saints (1-0) won the first flight 8-2 off the rackets of senior C.J. Weaver and junior Vlad Lumezeau. Sophomores Gustavo Carballal and Alex Rodas won their match 8-3 and sophomore Francis Combier and freshman Justin Davis took care of business 8-3 in the final flight.
Lumezeau fell in the first singles flight to junior Andres Bouvea in a hard fought three sets. That was the Saints only loss to the Tornados (0-1) as North Georgia took the next five matches. Davis was taken to three sets as well, but overcame junior Daniel Acevedo 7-3 in the final set to win the match.
North Georgia will return to action on the road next week as they take on Piedmont College Tuesday afternoon.
