NORTH GEORGIA FALLS TO UNC PEMBROKE
Saints fall to 1-2 in Peach Belt Conference play
Dahlonega, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University scored first, but was unable to hold on, falling to UNC Pembroke 2-1 in Peach Belt Conference play Saturday afternoon.
North Georgia scored the game's first goal just 40 seconds in when Joey Rector crossed the ball from the left side onto a running Jeremy Bouasy. Bouasy one-timed the ball past UNC Pembroke's Richard Sallin for the early 1-0 lead.
Pembroke answered quickly in the sixth minute when Andrew Brown outran the Saints' defense down the right side, crossing the ball onto the foot of a running Miguel Ferrer. Ferrer one-timed the ball by North Georgia's Brandon Kirksey to tie the game.
The Braves took the lead in the ninth minute when Max Aust blasted a shot from around 30 yards out past Kirksey for the 2-1 lead.
UNC Pembroke, playing a man down for most of the second half, and North Georgia both had chances in the second half but were unable to score.
North Georgia outshot UNC Pembroke 11-10.
North Georgia (3-7-1, 1-2 PBC) returns to action Wednesday hosting Covenant College.
