NORTH GEORGIA PICKS UP VICTORY
Rodenby scores pair of goals to lead Saints

Dahlonega, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University used a pair of goals by Michael Rodenby to defeat the University of Alabama-Huntsville 3-1 in non-conference action here Saturday afternoon.

Both of Rodenby’s goals came via free kicks, following two Chargers’ fouls from 30-yards out.  The first came after Jeremy Bouasy was taken by UAH’s Travis Morris.  Rodenby set the ball up, signaled his teammates and promptly beat Chargers’ goalkeeper Tyler Early to the right corner.  The goal gave North Georgia a 1-0 lead in the 80th minute.

Rodenby struck again in the 81st minute, just 89 seconds later following another foul by Morris.  Rodenby set the ball up in almost the same spot, this time beating Early to the top left corner for a 3-1 lead with just nine minutes remaining.

North Georgia grabbed the early lead in the first half when the Bouasy-Ryan Whittington connection hooked up one more time this season.   This time it was Whittington providing the assist to Bouasy, who beat Early to the far post and a 1-0 lead.  The game stayed that way into halftime.

Following the intermission, Alabama-Huntsville (0-6-1) equalized the game when Paul Sammeroff beat Brandon Kirksey to the right corner in the 53rd minute.  The goal came courtesy of a cross by Garrett Younanin.

The Chargers had another chance on goal, but Kirksey stopped a one-one-one opportunity from point blank range off the foot of Sammeroff.

North Georgia (2-6-0, 0-1 PBC) returns to action Tuesday, traveling to Georgia Southwestern.
