LEES-MCRAE DOWNS NORTH GEORGIA 4-1 IN MENS SOCCER ACTION
Morrow, GA – Berin Boracic put two balls in the net just four minutes apart in the first half to lead Lees-McRae to a 4-1 win over North Georgia College & State University in the final game of the Clayton State tournament.
Lees-McRae got off to a quick start at the 8:26 mark when James Worsnop sent a header past North Georgia goalie Brandon Kirksey to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead. Boracic would add two more goals in the first period to give the Bobcats a 3-0 advantage heading into the half.
North Georgia got on the board in the 52nd minute off a goal from sophomore Ryan Whittington assisted by freshman Drew Patton.
Lees-McRae would add another goal off a steal and goal by Alex Turnello to give the Bobcats a 4-1 win. Lees-McRae tallied 17 shots compared to only 12 by the Saints. North Georgia had plenty of opportunities from the corner as they compiled seven corner kicks over the course of the game, but were unable to convert any for scores.
The Saints will look for their first win of the season in its home opener as they take on Brewton Parker College on Tuesday, September 5th at 5 pm.
