NORTH GEORGIA AND BREWTON-PARKER PLAY TO A 1-1 TIE IN DOUBLE SSAC MEN'S SOCCER ACTION

Dahlonega, Ga. - The Saints (2-0-1, 1-0-1) and the Barons (1-1-1, 0-1-1) played 110:00 minutes, but neither team could break the other and the Southern States Athletic Conference match ended in a 1-1 double overtime tie.

The two goals in the match occurred in quick succession in the 20th minute. North Georgia junior midfielder Rene' Alvarez (Dahlonega, Ga.) put a left footer over the head of BPC junior goalkeeper Zach Brunner (Lancaster, Ca.) to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. The Barons responded quickly though, and 33 seconds later sophomore midfielder Jarrett McCall (Vidalia, Ga.) scored on a bicycle kick to tie the game at 1-1.

North Georgia's offense attacked consistently throughout the game and took 34 shots, but Brunner responded with six saves and only one goal. Saints sophomore goalkeeper Vince Neal (Athens, Ga.) had three saves and allowed one goal in the match.

North Georgia will be in action again Thursday as they take on Clayton College & State University at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex at 7:00 pm. BPC will be at home as they play their third SSAC match as they challenge Shorter College this Saturday at 4:00 pm.
