SAINTS CRUISE PAST BULLDOGS 5-2 IN SEASON OPENER

Dahlonega, Ga. - Freshman forward Calvin Cook (Jupiter, Fl.) scored two goals in the first match of the season and led North Georgia College & State University to a 5-2 win over Union College in men's soccer action.

The Saints got on the board early in the match when sophomore forward Jeremy Bouasy (Demorest, GA) knocked in a header off of the foot of junior midfielder Jonathan Cueva (Quito, Ecuador) to score the first goal of the 2004 season and give NGCSU a 1-0 lead. Cook scored his first goal of the match in the 41st minute and gave the Saints a 2-0 lead heading into halftime. Junior forward Ciro Pelliccia (Conyers, Ga.) returned a deflected shot into the back of the net one minute into the second half to give the Saints a 3-0 lead.

The Bulldogs scored their two lone goals in the second half off of penalty kicks from freshman midfielder Marcus LeeFook (Trinidad & Tobago) and freshman midfielder Patrick Bueno (Greer, S.C.).

Cook scored his second goal in the 79th minute off an assist from junior midfielder Rene' Alvarez (Dahlonega, Ga.) and Cueva knocked in the final goal for NGCSU in the 79th minute to score his third point of the match.

Union will face Georgetown for their home opener with the kickoff starting at 4:30 pm. The Saints return to action on Saturday as they head to Rome, Ga. to take on Shorter College at 7:00 pm.
