SAINTS ROLL PAST CARVER BIBLE
North Georgia hits century mark for second consecutive game

Dahlonega, GA - North Georgia College & State University overcame a sluggish start, eventually running away from Carver Bible College 107-68 in non-conference action here Thursday night.

Carver Bible silenced an otherwise raucous crowd, with a 14-0 run in the game's first five minutes. The Cougars used three-pointers by Fred Fields and Reico Carter, free throws by Carter, and baskets by Jeremy Russell (two) and Tim Rodgers to build an early lead.

The Saints chipped away at the lead over the next few minutes, beginning with a three-pointer by Jay Anderson with 14:32 to play in the first half to cut the lead to 14-3. Xavier Trice cut into the lead with a free throw just seconds later, before Carver Bible's Rodgers scored on a lay-up with 13:08 to play in the first half pushed the lead back to 12 at 16-4. Jakirra Millsap sparked the Saints with a lay-up after a made basket with 12:23 to play in the first half to cut the lead to 16-6. And from there, the Saints hit the ground running.

Anderson connected on a three-pointer with 12:02 to play to trim the lead to seven, at 16-9. Trice would hit two free throws with 11:08 to play in the half to cut the lead to five at 16-11. The crowd really got back into the game on the next North Georgia fast break when senior Buzz Wehunt took a pass from Trice and flushed it home to trim the lead to 16-13 with 10:45 to play.

Following a pair of free throws after a technical foul, the Cougars extended the lead back to four before Millsap once again found an alley and hit a lay-up to trim the lead to 17-15 with just 10:40 left in the first half.

Wehunt hit a three-pointer with 9:48 to play in the half that trimmed the lead to one at 19-18, before Trice brought the crowd to its feet with a lay-up that gave the Saints a 20-19 lead with 9:10 remaining in the first half...a lead they would never relinquish.

The Saints closed the first half on a 25-12 to take a 45-31 lead at the intermission.
