SAINTS FALL TO UNC PEMBROKE TO OPEN PBC PLAY
Anderson scores 27 points in loss
Pembroke, N.C. - Jay Anderson scored 27 points, but they were not enough for North Georgia College & State University, as they fell to UNC Pembroke 69-56 at the English E. Jones Center Thursday night.
The Saints held the lead early in the second half, leading 32-31 with 14:45 remaining in the contest. Unfortunately, the numbers game caught up with North Georgia as the Braves were running 14 players onto the court against the Saints nine.
UNC Pembroke (2-10, 1-0 PBC) outscored the Saints 37-24 down the stretch to capture the victory.
UNC Pembroke shot 41.8 (23-for-55) percent from the floor, and 41.7 (5-for-12) from behind the arc. They also shot 75 (18-for-24) percent from the free throw line.
North Georgia shot 35.3 (18-for-51) percent from the floor and 27.3 (6-for-22) from behind the arc. They also shot 73.7 (14-for-19) percent from the free throw line.
The Braves were led by Jonathan Hart with 20 points, while Tony Carr added 15 in the Peach Belt victory. Cortez Brown added 13, while Jarrell Hunter added 11.
Xavier Trice added 13 points in the loss for North Georgia.
North Georgia (4-8, 0-1 PBC) returns to action Saturday in Savannah against Armstrong Atlantic State University. Tip-off is slated for 4 pm.
