NORTH GEORGIA BREEZES PAST MARYVILLE 103-93 IN THE BAHAMAS

Dahlonega, Ga. – The Saints of North Georgia College & State University took a nine-point half time lead and stretched it into a 103-93 victory over the Saints of Maryville University Monday evening in the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout.

NGCSU (5-2) has won four consecutive games and went wire-to-wire against MU (5-4), taking the lead with the first bucket and never looking back. North Georgia had five players score in double-figures for the second consecutive game with junior guard Buzz Wehunt leading the way with 29 points. Junior guard Matt Causey had another 20-plus point game with 23 points and six assists. Causey needs to score only three more points in tonight's game against Menlo before he tallies his 1000th point of his collegiate career.

Senior post Marcus Robinson also turned in a good night for NGCSU with 18 points and seven rebounds while senior guard Mark Causey added 15 points, four assists, and five rebounds. Freshman post Anthony Rowe had another outstanding game coming off the bench for North Georgia with 13 points and six rebounds.

Two Saints came off the bench for Maryville and put in 18-point performances to lead the team. Matt Regan and Ben Hebl each performed well with Regan adding four assists and Hebl chipping in three helpers. Stephen Bash had 15 points and seven assists along with Tim Elwell who added 11 points in the effort.

NGCSU will take on Menlo in their final game of the Shootout at 4:00 p.m. today. MU will take to the court again in the New Year as they face Washington University at home on January 4.
