The Lakers (21-5, 14-5) scored 33 of their 102 total points off of the free throw line and shot 47 percent (30-for-68) in the game as they took control of the game early. CU extended its lead in the second half as they cruised to the 34-point win.
Junior guard Todd McLaurin scored a season high 30 points after hitting 19-of-20 free throws and going 5-for-15 from the field. Junior center Aristide Sawadogo grabbed a game high 12 rebounds and added eight points. Junior forward John Beugnot and junior guard Brandon Kelley each scored 13 to round out the Lakers attack. Every member of the CU team scored five points or more in the win.
For the Saints (14-11, 11-8), junior Matt Causey scored a team high 11 points while senior guard Mark Causey and junior guard Buzz Wehunt each added 10 points.
North Georgia will play in its final contest on Saturday as they take on Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah on Saturday. The Lakers will face Francis Marion University Saturday in their final game before the Peach Belt Conference Tournament next week. |
