Fiegi Tosses in Tournament Record 42 Counters
Klamath Falls, Oregon---Junior center Eric Fiegi hit 17-of-28 field goal attempts and added 8-of-11 from the foul line good for a tournament record of 42 points as Western Baptist dismantled North Georgia College & State University 118-86 Thursday evening in the first round of the Cell Tech/Midland Empire/Ohio Casualty Classic. Fiegi concluded his double-double with 18 rebounds. The Medford, Oregon product had a double-double at halftime for the Warriors as they built a 48-37 halftime advantage and were never threatened again.
Jared Dunn added 29 counters for the Salem, Oregon based school as W.B. improved to 2-0 on the season. It was the second straight contest that Western Baptist has scored over 100 points.
North Georgia had four players in double figures led by Ryan Franklin with 18 counters. Franklin was 7-of-8 coming off the bench for the Saints from Dahlonega, Georgia . It was the first defeat of the season for North Georgia (3-1).
Western Baptist continued their torrid shooting from the floor on 42-of-68 (.618) and from beyond the arc with 14-of-21 (.667).
Western Baptist (2-0) will meet #5 Dominican (2-1), an 82-69 winner over Cascade (2-1), Friday at 6:00 p.m. in the fifth game of the three day tournament.
North Georgia will meet Oregon Tech (2-1) an 88-53 winner over William Jessup (0-1) of Rocklin , California in Fridays final contest at 8:00 p.m.
Fridays first game at 4:00 p.m. features William Jessup and Cascade.
