NORTH GEORGIA DEFEATS TENNESSEE TEMPLE 98-82 IN SECOND GAME OF WAL-MART CLASSIC

Dahlonega, Ga. - Led by junior guard Mark Causey (Gainesville, Ga.), the Saints (7-4) flew past the Crusaders (6-8) 98-82 in the second game of the Wal-Mart Classic hosted by North Georgia College & State University.

The first half had six ties and seven lead changes until a jumper by Causey gave the Saints a 31-26 lead with 7:53 seconds left in the half. North Georgia had its largest lead of the half when Causey drained a three pointer to give the Saints an 18 point lead with 2:33 to go. A couple of free throws by Crusaders junior guard Danny Lancaster (Cottondale, Ala.) cut the score to 51-38 before the end of the half to give North Georgia a 13 point lead heading into the locker room.

Both teams shot the ball extremely well in the first half with the Saints shooting 51% (18-35) and Tennessee Temple shooting 54% (15-28). Rebounds were close as well in the first half; North Georgia had 17 total rebounds and the Crusaders tallied 18. The biggest difference in the first half was the turnover margin with 11 committed by Tennessee Temple and only four by the Saints.

North Georgia continued to pour on the offense in the second half and had a 16 point lead with 11:53 in the second half after Causey knocked down a free throw to make the score 72-56. The Crusaders cut the lead to single digits when junior guard Josh Jones (Florence, S.C.) sunk a jumper at the two 10 minute mark to make the score 72-63. next five minutes, capped off by a couple of free throws by freshman guard Jakirra Milsap (Buford, Ga.) to give the Saints an 18 point lead. In the final minutes of the game, North Georgia continued the offense and had their largest lead of the game, 19 points, with 18 second left in the competition.

Sophomore guard Ryan Wadley (Ringgold, Ga.) was the high scorer for the Crusaders as he scored 19 points. Causey led all scorers with a season high 29 points. Senior wing Bryce Brickhouse (Norcross, Ga.) added 25 points to the effort and five assists.

Tennessee Temple will face Emmanuel College in the third game of the Wal-Mart Classic tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. followed by the Saints facing off against #4 Lindsey Wilson College at 4:00 p.m.
