NGCSU BASKETBALL AMONG LEADERS IN NAIA STATISTICS

Dahlonega, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University men's and women's basketball teams are listed among the leaders in the latest statistics announced this week.

Junior guard Katie Williamson(Suwanee, Ga.) fell to third place in free throw percentage (88.8%) and junior forward Jeanine Dorminey(Tifton, Ga.) moved up two spots to sixth in blocked shots (2.22 bpg) and 14th in defensive rebounds (5.75 rpg). As a team, the Lady Saints are ranked in the top-20 in eight different statistical categories as a team. North Georgia is ranked second in defensive rebounding (29.00 rpg), fourth in blocked shots (5.09), fifth in free throw percentage (76.2%), tied for fifth in defensive field goal percentage (35.6%), and is ninth in total rebounding offense (41.97). The Lady Saints are also ranked 12th in rebound margin (+6.88), 19th in scoring margin (+11.84), and 20th in scoring (74.56 ppg).

On the men's side, sophomore guard Matt Causey (Gainesville, Ga.) continues to be ranked second in the nation in assists (6.90 apg), third in scoring (23.13ppg) and is tied for eighth place in free throw percentage (85.6%). Sophomore forward Mark Trust (Winder, Ga.) is also listed ninth in blocks (1.84 bpg) and 20th in defensive rebounds (5.68 rpg). As a team, the Saints set a new school record for points in a season with 3015 and scoring average (91.4 ppg). North Georgia is currently ranked second in the nation in scoring, sixth in free throw percentage (74.4%), and eighth in defensive rebounds (26.19 rpg). The Saints are also ranked 10th in blocked shots (3.91 bpg), 12th in field goal percentage (49.5%), 15th in assist to turnover ratio (1.14), and 20th in total rebounding offense (37.84).

The Lady Saints received a bid to the NAIA National Tournament for the seventh straight year and will play Campbellsville University next Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. in Oman Arena. The Saints completed their season in the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament in the semifinals and tied the school record for most wins in a season at 23.
