SAINTS BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL KICKS OFF THIS WEEKEND
Dahlonega, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University baseball and softball will open their first season in NCAA Division II and Peach Belt Competition this weekend on Saturday and Sunday.
The Saints open up the spring sports season today at 1:00 p.m. as they take on Claflin University for a double header. North Georgia finished last season ranked 18th in the nation with a 57-15 overall record. The Saints return 14 letter-winners who blasted their way through the competition last year. Seventh year head coach Tom Cantrell looks to lead his team to success in one of the best conferences in Division II.
North Georgia softball will open its season on Sunday with a double header at 1:00 p.m. verses Belmont Abbey. The Saints completed one of their best seasons in the program history last year, finishing ranked eighth in the nation and advancing to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Tournament. Sixth year head coach Mike Davenport returns 10 starters from last seasons team that finished 45-18 overall and won their fourth consecutive conference championship
