SAINTS POUND OUT 14 HITS IN VICTORY OVER ANDERSON
Airich and Warner go deep in victory

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University used a pair of homeruns from Creston Warner and Andre Airich to power by visiting Anderson University 9-6 in non-conference baseball action here Tuesday evening.

After giving up two runs in the top of the eighth inning, and finding themselves tied at 6-6, the Saints mounted an offensive explosion to score three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Airich started the inning with a walk, which was followed by a Josh Tate single to right to put runners at first and second with no outs.  Neil Krock then bunted the runners over, but also found himself at first courtesy of a throwing error by the Anderson pitcher.  With the bases loaded and no one out, Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week Justin Rickett stepped to the plate and used his hip instead of his bat to bring home the go ahead run – getting hit by a pitch.  Anders Oster followed with a two-run single for the final margin.

Before the eighth, the two teams battled to a 4-4 draw before rain and lightning halted the game for over 90 minutes, and following the delay neither team could score until the eighth – with the exception of a pair of runs by the Saints in the bottom of the third inning shortly after the game was restarted.

Ed Johnson led Anderson at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored, two runs batted in and one of three homeruns by the Trojans on the day.  B.J. Smith went 2-for-5 with a run batted in for the Trojans.  Tony Graham and Kyle Lewis each homered for Anderson.

Craig Brisson led the Saints going 3-for-5 with a run scored and a run batted in.  Brad Hall went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a run batted in.  Airich collected a pair of hits, including his homerun, drove in three runs and scored twice.  Oster and Tate each collected a pair of hits.

Mike Peters (3-0) worked two innings, allowing his first run in over a month on three hits.  He struck out three batters.

North Georgia (22-13, 10-5 PBC) return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Southern Wesleyan.
