JUSTIN RICKETT NAMED PBC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior third baseman drives in 14 runs, hits .800 in UNCP series
AUGUSTA, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University senior third baseman Justin Rickett was named the Peach Belt Conference Baseball Player of the Week, announced by the conference office this afternoon.
Rickett hit .579 for the week, helping the Saints to a 4-1 record for the entire week including winning two-of-three PBC games against UNC Pembroke on the road. He added two doubles, a homerun and 14 runs batted in during the streak. His hits included a three-run double on the road against Erskine in the 12th inning, enabling the Saints to win. He then added a two-run game-winning homerun on the road at UNC Pembroke, allowing the Saints to win game two of their series.
The senior raised hit batting average over 50 points for the week, connecting on 11 hits in 19 at-bats. In a three-game series against UNC Pembroke, Rickett hit .800 (8-for-10) with six runs batted in and three runs scored. He began the week with six RBI against Erskine on the road.
Rickett has moved into 12th place in the Peach Belt in RBI, 13th in slugging percentage and is tied for fifth in the conference in homeruns.
