PETITTI EARNS GOLD GLOVE REGION AWARD
Freshman catcher played in 53 games behind the plate

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Freshman catcher Daniel Petitti added to the awards list for North Georgia College & State University this past week when it was announced that he was named to the South Atlantic Region Gold Glove team.

Petitti caught 53 games this season, starting 50 as a true freshman. For the season he recorded 217 putouts in 277 chances. He also added 54 assists, while just committing six errors for a .978 fielding percentage.

He also threw out 27 out of 62 runners who tried to steal on him this season, for an average of 40 percent.

The award is in addition to junior pitcher Chris Curtis being named First-Team All-Conference and Second-Team All-Region, Craig Brisson named Peach Belt Freshman of the Year and Tom Cantrell earning the Coach of the Year Award.
