#27 ARGOS OUT DUEL SAINTS 2-1
Pensacola, Fla. – Last year’s Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year, Kyle Ramsey continues to improve for #27 University of West Florida. Tonight, Ramsey defeated North Georgia 2-1 to take the first game of a four game series.
Ramsey (2-1) pitched all nine innings and allowed just three hits and no earned runs, while striking out seven and walking just one. He retired the side five times in the game as well.
West Florida looked like they would open up the scoring in the first couple innings. Josh Loosier led off the first inning with a double and later scored on an RBI ground out by Bo Williams. The Argos scored their last run in the second inning after Owen Davis led off with a single and later scored on an RBI ground out by Jason Kohl.
Peter Antoske paced UWF by going 3-for-4. Loosier and Davis each had two hits. For North Georgia, Justin Rickett continued to swing a hot bat has he went 2-for-4, including a triple on a high fly ball to center.
Saints starting pitcher Mark Thomas took the loss in three innings of work after allowing both UWF runs on six hits. North Georgia reliever Cory Gilleland pitched five shutout innings.
West Florida improves their record to 9-4. The Argos are ranked 27th by the ABCA Division II Coaches Poll. North Georgia drops to 4-5. The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow starting at 12:00 pm.
