GANZER DELIVERS A 7-1 VICTORY OVER SAINTS
Dahlonega, Ga. – Emory University’s Ian Ganzer locked down the North Georgia College & State University offense to six hits and one run this evening.
Saint freshman pitcher Zach Black made short work of the Eagles in the first three innings allowing only two hits. In the top of the fourth, Black walked Bryan Langbord and Sam Cunningham to enable the Eagle’s offense. A sacrifice bunt by Frank Pfister followed by a Mike Levin single to right field brought in the first two runs of the game. To start the fifth, Eagle’s David Hissey was walked, then stole second, and advanced to third on a sacrifice hit. Taylor Gettinger singled which allowed Hissey to score and put the Eagles up 3-0.
A single by Dusty Tate started off the eighth inning for the Saints accompanied by a Justin Rickett single. A wild pitch by Ganzer advanced the runners and a sacrifice hit by Kyle Potts scored a run for the Saints making the score 3-1. The Eagles answered with a hit by Joe Roth to bring in Alex Sotiriou to score. A hit by Langbord and a Saint error placed runners on the corners. A double by Cunningham and a single by Pfister brought in three runs for the Eagles which made the score 7-1.
Ganzer (1-0) earned the win for the Eagles pitching 8.2 innings and striking out eight batters. Black (1-2) received the loss pitching seven innings and only allowing four hits and three runs.
The Saints play Thursday on the road against Southern Wesleyan University at 7:00 p.m.
