LEJA LEADS NORTH GEORGIA BASEBALL TO 7-0 WIN OVER
SOUTHERN WESLEYAN
Dahlonega, Ga.. -- On a blustery Saturday afternoon, Brett Leja (Miami, Fla.) went 2-for-4 and knocked in 3 RBIs to lead North Georgia College & State University to a 7-0 win over Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) opponent Southern Wesleyan University.
The Saints went up 2-0 in the first inning when Leja singled to score Kevin Bulger (Snellville, Ga.) and Erik Good (Dahlonega, Ga.). The Saints would score the third run of the inning after Justin Rickett (Cumming, Ga.) crossed homeplate on an error by the Southern Wesleyan centerfielder.
North Georgia added a single run in the second inning for a 4-0 lead and added three runs in the seventh inning to put the score at 7-0.
The Saints (19-9, 8-7 SSC) finished the game with nine hits while allowing the scoreless Warriors (8-14, 2-13 SSAC) only three.
Saints starting pitcher Jason Willard (Columbus, Ga.) threw eight innings and improved to 6-1 overall with today's win. Southern Wesleyan freshman Lincoln Miller (Cambridge, Md.) was tagged with the SSAC loss.
North Georgia returns to action on March 8-9 when Martin Methodist travels to Dahlonega for a two-game series. Gametimes for both days is 3:00 p.m.
