SAINTS ROLL PAST WARRIORS, 12-2
Brian Lauderdale records a perfect five-for-five at the plate
Dahlonega, Ga. – Junior second baseman Brian Lauderdale (Roswell, Ga.) had a perfect Friday afternoon, going five-for-five from the plate, including a solo homerun, as North Georgia College & State University defeated Southern Wesleyan University 12-2 at the North Georgia Baseball Complex. In addition to his perfect at-bats, Lauderdale would score five runs and add one RBI to his afternoon’s totals. Southern Wesleyan got on the board first when John Kelly (Easley, SC) singled to third base and scored Brent Wiley (Pendleton, SC) in the top half of the first inning. The Warriors were unable to put another run on the board until the fifth inning when Davey Blackburn (Tuscaloosa, Al.) singled to center field and sent second baseman Chris Skinner (Rembert, SC) across the plate. North Georgia put their first run on the board in the first inning as well when Kevin Bulger (Snellville, Ga.)
singled to right field and scored Lauderdale. The Saints would go on to put ten additional runs on the board in the next four innings, including four runs in both the third and fifth innings. The Saints ended the game in the eighth inning off of a solo homerun by Lauderdale. Saints right fielder Richie Daigle (Alpharetta, Ga.) had a great outing as well, ending the day with three hits in five at-bats, including a homerun. Daigle would also score two runs and finished the game with three RBIs. Fellow teammate Justin Rickett (Cumming, Ga.) added two RBIs while scoring two runs and went two-for-four from the plate. Senior pitcher Justin Stowe picked up his third win of the season and evened his record at 3-3. Southern Wesleyan freshman Michael Wald recorded the loss for the Warriors.
North Georgia improves to 18-9 overall and evens up their SSAC record at 7-7 while Southern Wesleyan drops to 8-13 overall and 2-12 SSAC. Box Score
