The 5-10 second baseman from Roswell has been one of the best offensive players in the conference this season. Lauderdale currently leads the league in runs scored, hits, runs batted in, doubles, sacrifice flies, and stolen bases. With three runs scored today, he now has 97 runs scored this season.
Lauderdale got his 99th hit of the season in the second inning off of a single. North Georgia (53-12) had already jumped out to a 4-0 lead after a first inning rally. Junior first baseman Creston Warner (Jacksonville, Fla.) put four more runs on the board as he sent a homer over the fence for a grand slam and an 8-1 Saints lead after two innings.
The Crusaders fought back and scored one run in the second inning and two in the sixth, but the Saints responded in the bottom half of the inning with a single run to make the score 9-3.
In the eighth inning, Lauderdale socked his 100th hit of the year with a single to the third baseman. He scored after sophomore third baseman Justin Rickett (Cumming, Ga.) doubled to left field. After Rickett scored to make it an 11-3 ball game, junior shortstop Kyle Potts (Jefferson, Ga.) singled to left field to drive in two runs and close out the game.
Senior starting pitcher Kevin Bulger (Snellville, Ga.) picked up this third win of the season after going 4 1/3 innings of work and striking out a season high 10 batters. He only walked two and allowed two earned runs. |
