#7 SAINTS TAKE FINAL GAME OF REGULAR SEASON WITH
9-6 WIN OVER BEARCATS

Dahlonega, Ga. – A four run third and a three run fifth by seventh ranked North Georgia College & State University held off a late surge by Lander University as the Saints won 9-6 over the Bearcats.

LU (28-24) scored a single run in the third inning to go up 1-0, but North Georgia (56-13) responded in the bottom half of the inning with four runs. Junior second baseman Brian Lauderdale (Roswell, Ga.) led off the inning with a single to the shortstop and swiped a couple of bases to move to third base. A walk to sophomore third baseman Justin Rickett (Cumming, Ga.) put two runners on base. Lauderdale scored the first run for the Saints off of a wild pitch and Rickett touched home off of a sacrifice fly by freshman designated hitter Erik Good (Dahlonega, Ga.). With two outs, junior left fielder Ryan Gurley (Jefferson, Ga.) knocked an RBI single to make it a 3-1 ball game. Another RBI single was knocked by freshman center fielder Ryan Seay (Dawsonville, Ga.) before the Bearcats got the final out of the inning.

North Georgia put another run on the board in the fourth inning to make it a 5-1 ball game. LU responded with a run of their own in the fifth inning to cut the lead to three. The Saints responded in the bottom of the fifth with three runs to jump out to an 8-2 lead. The first run of the inning was scored when Seay reached home off of an error. A single by senior shortstop Kevin Bulger (Snellville, Ga.) scored the second run of the inning followed by a sacrifice fly by sophomore first baseman Creston Warner (Jacksonville, Fla.).

The Saints scored one more run in the sixth inning and had a seven run lead heading into the final three frames of the game. The Bearcats charged back into the game in the seventh inning as they put four runs up. A single to left field by sophomore center fielder Jonathan Myers (Abeville, S.C.) led off the inning followed by a walk to junior shortstop Radley Raven (Tacoma, Wash.). A one out RBI ground out sent Myers home for the first run of the inning and put LU in the hole with two outs.

The Bearcats would not go down in the seventh though as junior third baseman Kevin Davis (Seattle, Wash.) singled down the line to score a run. A single to center field by junior pinch hitter Ryan Brisby (Kennewick, Wash.) scored the third run of the inning followed by junior designated hitter Adam Hutchins (Kernesville, N.C.) who doubled in the final run of the inning before North Georgia closed out the inning.

After allowing 10 hits in the first seven innings, the Saints only gave up two in the final two innings as freshman reliever Tom Bradley (Dacula, Ga.) and sophomore reliever Josh Stowe (Marietta, Ga.) picked up his fourth save as he closed out the ball game.

Senior starter Jason Willard (Alpharetta, Ga.) picked up the win and improves to 13-2 overall. Willard went five innings and allowed only two earned runs off of six hits and struck out four batters.
