FAULKNER SPLITS DOUBLE HEADER WITH #7 NORTH GEORGIA
Dahlonega, Ga. – After dropping the first two games in the series, No. 7 North Georgia College & State University took the final game from Faulkner University to split the Saturday double header 6-2 and 9-1.
Game 1
After scoring one run in the first inning, the Eagles (13-3, 6-3) scored two runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-0 lead. In the fifth inning, a three run homer by junior short stop Jon Musillo (Tequesta, Fla.) stretched the lead to 6-0. The Saints (14-6, 4-5) scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh off of two hits, but a strike out by junior starter Adam Moore (Greenville, Ala.) ended the rally and the game.
Moore went seven innings for the win and struck out six batters while scattering three hits and allowing only two earned runs. Senior starter Justin Stowe (Marietta, Ga.) took the loss and falls to 2-3 on the season.

Game 2
North Georgia's bats woke up in the second game as the Saints scored nine runs off of eight hits. Faulkner also struggled from the field as they committed five errors in the game.
In the bottom of the third inning, North Georgia scored five runs off of three hits and three Eagle errors. A hit batsman and a walk scored two runs for the Saints followed by two more errors and three more runs on the board.
The Eagles scored one run in the sixth inning, but North Georgia responded right back with four more runs with sophomore left fielder Justin Rickett (Cumming, Ga.) scoring one of this two RBI's in the game.
Senior starting pitcher Jason Willard (Columbus, Ga.) pitched seven strong innings, striking out five batters, to improve to 5-0 overall. Senior starter Doug Holbert (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) took the loss after allowing four earned runs off of eight hits.
The Saints will be back in action tomorrow as they head to Anderson, S.C to play Anderson College at 5:00 p.m. for a single game. Faulkner also plays again tomorrow against the University of Mobile on the road at noon.
