RAMBLIN' RAMS BLAST PAST #7 SAINTS 7-2
Dahlonega, Ga. – A four run ninth inning propelled Bluefield College past North Georgia College & State University 7-2 Wednesday afternoon at the NGCSU Baseball Complex.
The Ramblin' Rams had a 3-2 lead heading into the ninth inning after scoring one run in the third, fourth, and seventh inning. The first run in the ninth was scored after senior third baseman Robby Lanham (Greenville, Tenn.) scored on a fielder's choice. An RBI double from freshman second baseman Robbie Parrish (Chesterfield, Va.) scored a second run and a one out single by freshman centerfield Timmy Brown (Richlands, Va.) gave senior closer Sammy Fertitta (Roanoke, Va.) all the support he needed.
BC out hit the Saints 16-7 and were led by junior center fielder Blake Williams (Tappahannock, Va.) who went 3-for-6 with one run and one RBI. North Georgia was led by junior second baseman Brian Lauderdale (Roswell, Ga.) who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
The Saints used seven pitchers in the game, with sophomore starter Brannon Sikes (Acworth, Ga.) taking the loss after going three and two-thirds innings and striking out four while allowing two earned runs off of seven hits. Junior starter Jon Link (Chantilly, Va.) picked up the win for the Ramblin' Rams after pitching seven inning and scattering five hits for two earned runs and striking out six batters.
North Georgia falls to 9-3 on the year while BC improves to 2-5 in the young season. The Saints will be on the road for the first time all season as they travel to Georgia Southwestern State University for a weekend series. The first game is this Friday at 2:00 p.m.
