BULGER LEADS NORTH GEORGIA PAST ANDERSON, 5-3
ANDERSON, S.C. -- Kevin Bulger hit a two-run homer in the first inning and earned the save to lead North Georgia to a 5-3 victory over Anderson College Wednesday afternoon at Anderson Memorial Stadium.
After Bulger, who was 3-for-5, staked the Saints to a 2-0 lead in the first, the Saints added two more runs in the fourth for a 4-0 lead.
Anderson finally broke through against North Georgia starter Michael Whiting in the seventh with Kyle Lewis hit a three-run homer to cut the North Georgia lead to 4-3.
After North Georgia added a single run in the eighth, Anderson tried to rally in the ninth. With a runner on first and two outs, Bulger entered and allowed a single before striking out Donavon Schmidt to end the game.
North Georgia finished the game with 14 hits to seven for Anderson.
Brian Lauderdale and Josh Stone both were 3-for-4 for North Georgia, 15-6 overall.
Lewis was 2-for-5 for Anderson, 4-9 overall.
