SAINTS FINISH #18 IN FINAL NAIA BASEBALL POLL
Dahlonega, Ga. – After completing one of the most successful seasons in Saints baseball history, North Georgia College & State University finishes the season ranked 18th in the final NAIA National Rankings released this week.
The Saints posted a 57-15 overall record and set a new school record for most wins and fewest losses. With a .792 winning percentage, North Georgia finished second in the Southern States Athletic Conference with a 24-9 record and won the conference tournament with a five game sweep of the competition. Outscoring opponents 704-289, The Saints were ranked as high as fourth in the nation this year and had four of its members selected to the SSAC All-Conference team and NAIA Region XIII All-Region team.
Except for Lewis-Clarke State retaining the top spot in the final poll, the top 10 in the nation was shaken after the region tournaments last week. Embry-Riddle University moved up one spot to second in the nation while Houston Baptist took a tumble to 11th overall.
Seven top 10 teams slipped out of their rankings from the previous week while six teams unranked teams jumped in to the final poll. Briar Cliff made the largest jump of the year after jumping to 12th in the nation after being unranked previously. Benedictine also made a huge leap, moving from 25th to 10th in the final poll.
