SAINTS BASEBALL LEAPS FORWARD TO SEVENTH IN THE NATION
Dahlonega, Ga. – After blowing away the competition at the conference tournament and posting 13 consecutive wins in a row, the North Georgia College & State University baseball team jumped to seventh in the latest rankings released by the NAIA today.
Dating back to a 1-0 win over Southern Polytechnics State University on April 9, the Saints have won 13 games in a row by a combined score of 153-46. This past week they swept the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament and posted a 5-0 record. North Georgia defeated previously sixth ranked Lee University 15-5 and 14-0 as they cruised to the championship. The Saints have posted nine double digit wins over the course of their 13 game win streak along with three shut outs. North Georgia is also one of two teams in the top 25 to post 50 or more wins so far this season.
Former number one Embry-Riddle University slipped down to third after going 1-2 last week. Lewis-Clark State moved into the top spot with 584 points and 11 first place votes. Right behind LCS was Houston Baptist with 574 points and eight first place votes.
After losing in the championship game to North Georgia, Lee slipped to 10th in the nation. The Flames currently have a 46-11 overall record and grabbed 375 points.
The Saints will play again tonight as they host North Greenville College at 8:00 p.m. at the NGCSU Baseball Complex.
