SAINTS BASEBALL JUMPS FOUR SPOTS TO #18
Dahlonega, Ga. – After going 19-2 in the month of March and riding a 12 and 11-game winning streak, North Georgia College & State University moved up four spots in the latest rankings released by the NAIA this week.
The Saints have won five straight conference series and have gone 14-1 over the same span in Southern States Athletic Conference games. North Georgia is currently 39-11 and is in sole possession of second place in the SSAC with a 19-8 record. With two conference series left before the SSAC Tournament begins, the Saints look sweep the final six games before tournament play begins on April 20.
Other SSAC schools ranked in the polls are Lee University and Southern Polytechnic State University. The Flames remained seventh in the nation with a 35-9 record and the Hornets moved into this week's poll at 25th with a 32-13 record. LU will be at Southern Wesleyan University this weekend an SPSU will host the Saints for a top-25 showdown in Marietta.
Five teams dropped from this week's poll and former number one Cumberland University took a tumble as they fell from the top spot to eighth in the nation. Embry-Riddle moved into the top spot for the first time this season and received 17 first place votes.
North Georgia will take to the field tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m. as they face #25 SPSU in Marietta.
