NORTH GEORGIA BASEBALL COACH TOM CANTRELL REACHES 400 CAREER WINS

Dahlonega, GA - North Georgia College & State University baseball coach Tom Cantrell hit a landmark coaching milestone last week, earning his 400th career win.

Cantrell is currently in his 6th season as head coach of the Saints and won his 400th career game in last Saturday’s 9-1 win over Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) opponent Faulkner University. Cantrell has compiled a current record of 224-114 at North Georgia, while his career record stands at 401-166.

Under Cantrell, North Georgia has finished with a winning record every season since baseball was reintroduced in 2000. Cantrell has twice been named Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference (now the SSAC) Coach of the Year. In 2002 and 2004 his teams claimed the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Region XIII championship and in 2001 and 2003 his teams finished as GACC regular season champions.

The Saints are currently 15-6 on the season and begin a three-game series against SSAC opponent Berry College tomorrow with a 2:00 game in Mount Berry, Georgia. The series will conclude on Saturday with a doubleheader set for 1:00.
