What is iCal?

iCal or iCalendar is the open standard for sharing calendar events. Users can exchange appointments between iCal compatible calendaring systems such as Novell GroupWise 7, Google GMail, Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple iCal or other compatible software.

How do I use iCal?

Users can create appointments in GroupWise 7 or other system for acceptance into other calendars.

Below is an example using GroupWise 7 and Google GMail.

The Google GMail user will receive the appointment in their mailbox.

The Google GMail user will accept or decline the appointment invitation.

If the Google GMail user accepts the appointment invitation, the appointment will be added to their Google calendar.

The GroupWise 7 user will receive the appointment in their mailbox.

The GroupWise 7 user will accept or decline the appointment.

The GroupWise 7 user receives acceptance e-mail from GMail user.
