General Information

Physical Therapy education exists on two distinct levels:  entry-level education is designed to educate individuals to become physical therapists; post-professional education is designed to further enhance the knowledge and skills of practicing physical therapists.  North Georgia College & State University (NGCSU) offers a fully accredited entry-level program leading to the Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT)  degree awarded by the Medical College of Georgia (MCG).  The three-year professional program includes clinical education (36 weeks) and research.  Students who complete the three-year professional education curriculum and receive the DPT degree are eligible to sit for the national licensure exam.  General information on physical therapy as a professional career may be obtained from the American Physical Therapy Association.
