Apply for admission to North Georgia College & State University, declaring nursing as your major.
Contact the Admissions Office online at http://www.ngcsu.edu/enrollment/admissions/index.htm

Apply for admission to the Nursing Department. There is a separate application to complete for the Nursing Department. If you are a currently enrolled NGCSU student and have not declared nursing as your major as your major, you must do so.

A copy of the NGCSU certificate of Immunization must be submitted with your nursing application in order for the application to be considered.

If you are currently licensed as an LPN, and are applying for the LPN/RN Career Mobility Track, you must complete specific core courses and, if required, according to the GA's LPN to ASN Articulation Plan, pass the NLN Mobility 1 test prior to beginning the LPN Bridge Course in the Summer. We administer the test here at NGCSU.

Please be advised that after you are admitted to the nursing program there are additional requirements prior to entering the first course. Specific information will be provided at that time. However, you need to be aware of the following requirements: Student Uniform, college name tag, professional liability insurance, CPR (AHA Healthcare provider), and health status / immunization information requirements.

Acceptance is dependent upon available space and the applicant's eligibility based on admission criteria  (See NGCSU catalog ). It is necessary to be accepted to NGCSU first before applying for the program.

Applicants seeking admission must meet the following requirements:
1.   Acceptance to North Georgia College & State University prior to Nov. 1st.
Application must be made for the semester you plan to begin attending classes.

DO NOT send transcripts to the Nursing Department!

4.   Completion of Pre-Admission testing (TEAS Exam). Test will consist mainly of basic reading, writing,
math, and science skills. The exam will be given on specific dates as scheduled by the Office of
Testing. You must sign up for test to be considered for summer admission. Registration
      is accomplished on-line at http://www.ngcsu.edu/Learning/ATallant/teasinfo.htm
Testing dates are
limited and fill quickly. It is recommended that you test as early as possible.  Test is valid for 3
      NGCSU application years.

5.   Selection of students based on;
      a.  Grade Point Average (GPA) - 2.75 or better*
      b.  Pre-Admission testing (TEAS)
      c.  SAT/ACT Scores (for recent High School Graduates)
      d.  Overall academic record which includes all previously completed coursework.
      e.  Academic performance in Math, Science, and English
      f.   Final acceptance to the LPN program is determined by the Nursing faculty.

**During the admission review process, the TEAS test is just one component of the profile that is used in the selection process for the admission of students into the LPN program.  Other factors that are considered include grade point average; performance on math, science and English courses; SAT/ACT scores for recent high school graduates; previous college degrees; and overall academic record.  The TEAS test scores that are used in the application profile are the “adjusted composite” and selected “adjusted subscale scores”.  Even though there is not a pass/fail, higher scores typically equate to more favorable profile ranking.  Applicants scoring less than a 65% overall “adjusted composite” will not be considered for admission.

*In all cases a minimum of 2.75 on a 4 point scale and successful completion of any Developmental Studies are required for admission to the Nursing Program. After acceptance, additional information will be sent concerning uniforms, CPR, and clinical agency requirements.
