Please Review all of this information Carefully!

The faculty are pleased to announce that North Georgia College & State University offers the Associate of Science Degree in Nursing Program on the NGCSU main campus, Gainesville College campus, & Lanier Tech/Forsyth Co. Campus.  Nursing courses offered in this program begin in the fall semester each year - day classes only. Classes meet at all sites at the same time, and interact with each other live via videoconferencing equipment. While a professor is located at each site to handle questions within the classrooms, lectures are shared among all the sites. Students at all sites can interact with each other in live discussions using this technology.

The purpose of the ASN program is to prepare men and women to be practitioners of nursing. The program features a curriculum which emphasizes that students who study nursing are highly motivated, self directed adult learners, with the assistance of a faculty that cares about students and individual learning.

Upon completion of this program of study, students develop the knowledge and skills to practice in acute care, long term care and community health settings that address the latest changes in nursing practice.

The ASN program is designed for two year completion.  After successful completion of the required courses, students may sit for Nursing Boards to be a Registered Nurse (RN).  The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree is available for those who are Registered Nurses.

The Georgia Board of Nursing has approved this program and it is fully accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.  North Georgia College & State University is a unit of the University System of Georgia. Students may take core curriculum courses either prior to or during the nursing sequence. These courses may be taken at other academic institutions and transferred to North Georgia College & State University.  The ASN program only begins once a year in the Fall Semester.

Inquiries regarding nursing should be directed to mplargent@ngcsu.edu or call 706-864-1930. Upon receipt of nursing application, a confirmation letter will be mailed with additional guidelines for nursing admission consideration.
