History of Athletic Training at NGCSU

The Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) is housed within the School of Education, Department of Health and Physical Education. The ATEP began as an emphasis area in 1998.   The Georgia Board of Regents approved the ATEP as a major in the Fall of 2001.  During the Spring of 2002, the Joint Review Committee on Educational programs in Athletic Training (JRC-AT) conducted a site visit for the program.  Fall 2002, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP) granted accreditation to the Athletic Training Education Program. The Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education has granted NGCSU re-accreditation until 2017-2018.
