This program is open to all university students and others, and credits may be transferable to home institutions. A cumulative grade point average of 2.5 is required; at many institutions the courses are accepted in fulfillment of the language requirement. The graduate level courses are particularly suitable for teachers working on advanced degrees. All students must consult with their academic advisors before enrolling in our program. Program costs are paid by student fees.  The HOPE Scholarship applies to this program.

Quebec City is the only fortified city in existence in North America and is a World Heritage City.   The old city is home to many cafés, restaurants, shops, museums and other places of cultural and historic interest.  During our stay, there are two major festivals. The Festival d'été is a summer music festival.  The Fêtes de la Nouvelle France recalls the early days when Quebec was a French colony.  Above all, Quebec City is a French-speaking city!

Although not required to take meals with the host(s), doing so gives students the opportunity each day to speak French and learn about life in Quebec.

The main goal of the program is to give students a supportive environment in which to speak French. In turn, students enrolled in the program pledge to speak French 100% of the time!  Those who do normally make important advances in their spoken French.
