At
the end of each program,
participants are asked to evaluate all
aspects of the program and, also, to provide comments they feel
accurately reflect their experiencees, something they would like to say
to those who might be interested in going in future summers. The
program director can also put prospective participants in touch with
students who have already gone on the program. Video clips from
one to two minutes in length.

done it twice. The program was well organized, my teachers at
Laval were great, and I had a wonderful host family. I couldn't
have asked for a better host situation."
Tammy Hauck (Kennesaw State University), Summer 2006
(video-mpg1) "I came to Quebec because as a teacher of French who had
been to France, I wanted to see French culture played out in other
parts of the world. I loved my professors at Laval. They
were very enthusiastic and wanted to share their language and culture
with their students." Reeves Coates (Mount de Sales Academy,
Macon, Ga.), Summer 2006
"The price is incredible and you are totally immersed in French, so for
French improvement I totally recommend the Quebec Program." Meredith
Sykes (Georgia Southern University), Summer 2006

studying French. You get as much out of it as you put in!!!"
Jennifer Fecher (Daemen College, New York), Summer 2006
"This program is the best way to improve your French. There is no
better way to learn a foreign language than to be immersed in it.
I would recommend this program to anyone who is serious about learning
French because Quebec is predominantly Francophone. C'est une
très bonne expérience!" Harry T. E. Wodehouse (New
York), Summer 2006
"I loved my time in Quebec. My host was great, and I learned a

here with total strangers and left with many new friends." Daniel Brown
(University of West Georgia), Summer 2006.
(video-AVI) "This program is one of the best ways to practice
your
French and learn
more about Francophone culture. Staying with a family and eating with

more Francophone that I expected." Naureen Shaukat
(Valdasta State University), Summer 2005
(video-AVI) "The trip to Quebec seriously helped me overcome my
fear

to Laval." Amber Disotell (Valdosta State University), Summer 2005
(video-AVI) "I
feel like I really established a life and friends in Quebec and I
will always feel welcomed here. It's definitely been like a
different continent; it feels a lot more foreign than you would
expect." Bronwyn Averett (University of Georgia), Summer 2005
(video-AVI)
"This program was great! Virtually everthing is
included in the
price--meals, lodging with a family, tuition, transportation and even a
lot of excursions. It was fun, a bargain, and I substantially
improved my French!" Emily Dabney (Georgia Southern), Summer 2005
"This program was a great experience. The people and city were
incredible! I will surely come back to Quebec City. I would
recommend this program to everyone." Gladys Pimentel (Georgia
Southern), Summer 2005
"Quebec is a wonderful place to visit. It is very accessible from
Georgia. This program helped my French a great deal. Quebec
has a wonderful history and is gorgeous. It is close enoguh to
home that as soon as you adjust to the French side of things everything
will be more like home and that will help you adjust more quickly."
Derek Brown (University of West Georgia), Summer 2005
"This program is absolutely the best in which I have ever seen in other
books or any other resources. I have made very interesting
friends during my stay. My host family is very nice. She
encourages us to speak more French in the house. In class you
will be able to meet with a variety of people from all over the
world--from Germany, USA, Canada, Spain, Venezuela, Japan, etc.
Yuka Magatani (Georgia Southwester University), Summer 2004
"The prgram was absolutely amazing! It has most definitely
surpassed all of my expectations! Staying with a family and being
here with the group was a great and fun way to enlarge my vocabulary
and to develope an aptitude and attitude as a lifelong habit!"
Lindsey McPherson (North Georgia College & State University),
Summer 2004
"This program has been a wonderful experience for me. At first I
was hesitant to come to Quebec instead of going to France to study, but
this is very much a French immersion program, as well as a cultural
experience. It was such an advantage to come with the group from
Georgia, and everything about the program was well-organized and
enjoyable--the classes, the host families, and above all the city--I
highly recomment coming to Quebec!"
Mollyanne Cheyne (University of Georgia), Summer 2004
"I loved my time in Quebec, not only because my French improved but
just for the experience in general. The people here welcome any
attempts at learning their language. I'm so glad I went."
Jennifer Harney (North Georgia College & State University),
Summer 2004
"The program here allowed me to learn more in 6 weeks than I have in 2
years of college. The single most gratifying experience of my
college career!...And the food's not bad either!"
Allison Walker (North Georgia College & State Unviersity), Summer
2004
"In addition to the magnificence of the city and the teachers, the
value of the program astounded me! I don't know how we did so
many things ! It truly is the best-kep secret for Georgians (and
others!) who want to study abroad."
David Mardis (Georgia Tech), Summer 2004
"I like how practically everything was included in the price we payed
before coming. It made the activities easier and less
stressful--they were just fun!"
Hannah Heintz (North Georgia College & State University), Summer
2004
"This program was everything and more than what I expected. The
program was well-planned and there were a lot of activities to
keep us busy (interesting ones). There were no surprises.
Everyone was very nice and helpful. I learned a lot of
French and I felt very welcome into the Québécois
culture. I recommend this program to anyone who is interested in
learning the French language and experiencing Qubec culture."
Thomas Deal (Georgia Southern University), Summer 2004
"Quebec exceeded all of my expectations; the city is beautiful and
exciting but small enough not to be overwhelming, and the people are
friendly and patient when we speak French to them.. Staying with a
family was definitely the best part of my stay here. They made us
feel very welcomed."
Brooks Becker (University of Georgia), Summer 2004
"This immersion program is a wonderful way to meet international
students, learn about Québécois culture, and truly "vivre
en français. Coming as a group has kept me very organized, and I
always feel that my best interests were at hand."
Leslie Harrell (Furman University), Summer 2003
"The experience has been wonderful--an
excellent challenge, though intimidating at times. The stress to
speak only
French is high."
Leslie McAbee (NGCSU), Summer 2003
"Don't be intimidated by the idea of coming
here to speak French. The Québécois are really
nice, especially if you make any effort at all to speak their language."
Lebbeous Weekley (NGVSU), Summer 2003
"I
really enjoyed my time in Quebec City. Everyone was so welcoming
and
friendly and genuinely interested in helping you out with whatever you
needed. This was a fabulous experience!"
Parvati Shallow (UGA), Summer 2003
"This
was the second summer in a row that I have come on this program.
I
have had a great experience both times and for me, this program was a
great way to kepp my French and continue learning throughout the
summer."
Kate Kriner (Kennesaw), Summer 2003
"My ability to communicate
in French improved more in the first week and a half-before classes
started-than
in my entire semester of French beforehand....The professors at Laval
are
...involved with Laval's program because they love teaching la belle
langue
to motivated anglophones, and they're good at it!"
Rachel Bailey (UGA), Summer 2002
"The study abroad program
at Laval is great! The classes tend to be smaller in size, so
there
is a better learning environment for the students. ... I feel that I
have
learned much French not only in the classroom, but by experiencing the
Quebec culture as well."
Brandon Nalewajek (Coker College), Summer 2002
"The people of Québec
are among the warmest and most welcoming in the French-speaking
world.
From the animateurs, the professors, the host families, to the
sales-clerks
in the stores--everyone was very friendly. The City of Quebec is
gorgeous!
While dining at the Café de Paris, it was exactly like being in
Paris (except it was much cheaper)!"
Andrea Haddix, Summer 2002
"The Quebec Program
was a positive experience for me. I feel that my French vocab and
comprehension level significantly increased and I had a lot of fun at
the
same time. I recommend this program for people who want to learn
more French."
Emily Begnaud (UGA), Summer 2002
"I think that this
trip was a lot of fun and I really learned a lot. I had a great
experience,
although it was a long six weeks, it was worth it because of what I
learned.
I came here speaking just a little, but I have impressed myself with my
speaking after just 3 weeks. Now that it's been 6 weeks, I'm
really
happy with my progress."
Kate Kriner (Kennesaw State University), Summer 2002
"The NGCSU-Quebec Program
is highly organized and ready to meet any needs of the students while
in
Quebec. Laval University is incredible and I have enjoyed it
immensely.
Quebec is charming and ...Laval encourages learning French...!
Elizabeth Coates (NGCSU), Summer 02
"A total immersion experience!
Worth every dime, and lots of things to do and see. I had no idea
Québec would be so fun and wonderful.
Shawn Ellis-Williams, Summer 2001
"This program has been very
beneficial. My speaking skills and especially my comprehension
greatly
improved. Quebec is a fantastic city. It hardly seems like
North America....
Levi Evans, Summer 2001
"The progress you can make
in everyday conversation is tremendous--and classes are well
structured.
The experience of living with a family of another culture is very
rewarding.
Cnadace B. Edgeworth, Summer 2001
"Quebec is a good francophone
alternative to France. The local people were very
welcoming....
I would recommend branching out from the group ...to give yourself the
opportunity to meet new people, hopefully Québécois!
Amanda Hilario, Summer 2001
"The
immersion program in Quebec was wonderful!" In six weeks I
learned
and practiced what
I would have done in a year! I would definitely like to return
and continue to learn French."
Olga Contreras-Perez, Summer 2000
"I
really had a lot of fun. My French increased dramatically.
Laval is a beautiful campus.
Vieux Québec is an excellent city for hours of discovery.
I really enjoyed all the activities with the animateurs.`"
Regina Byrom, Summer 2000
"I
really enjoyed my 6 weeks in Quebec. They flew by! I wasn't sure
if Quebec would be a good
place to learn French, but my apprehensions dissappeared when I arrived
here. Quebec is a fantastic city!
Paivi Haapanen, Summer 2000
"I
would encourage anyone who has any interest at all in learning the
French
language to come to
Quebec for the Summer. This has been such a valuable learning
experience for me andy my desire for
perfecting (French). There are so many opportunities for meeting
people from all over the world who all
have the same thing in common-- the love of learning new languages."
Jill Anthony, Summer 2000
"It
was a great experience...a chance to study abroad, learn French, and
learn
about another culture.
I went with only one semester of French, so I sdidn't speak very
well at all, but I returned to Georgia being
able to have a simple conversation with anyone in French.
Actually,
some conversations were quite complex.
I was so surprised at how much I learned in only 6 weeks in Quebec."
Lindsay Launius, Summer 2000
"I
wasn't sure if I wanted to participate in this program at first.
I wanted to go to France instead.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that I prefer Quebec to
France.
The people are ...so friendly and open, and it is
an ideal setting in which to learn French. I feel that Quebec is a
city to which I will always be connected.
I think I may come back and live in Quebec after I finish my
studies.
I love everything I have experienced during
my six weeks in Quebec."
Valerie West, Summer 2000
"I
found living with a Québécois family and attending
classes
in Quéec to be the best thing I've
decided to do to improve my French.
Jeremy Pickett, Summer 1999
"Québec is a very
beautiful city and the people are very nice.
There are so many things to see and do.
It is impossible to get bored! I would recommend this trip to
anyone looking to learn French (and not go broke in the
process!).
I am already anticipating my next trip to Québec!"
Donell Osborne, Summer 1999
"I can really tell a
difference in my French now as opposed to before the
progrtam. I actually started
to understand the French news and conversations going on around
me.
I also made a lot of friends in my group,
in my host family, and at Laval in my classes. It was a wonderful
experience!"
Melanie Pethel, Summer 1999
"This was one of the best
experiences of my life, and I could not be happier
with my decision to come
to Québec. Old Québec is one of the prettiest,
picturesque cities I have ever seen. I relly enjoyed the culture
in
Québec and feel like it was a true learning experience!"
Patty Turlington, Summer 1999
"The obvious: my fluency
improved. I learned a lot about how I adapt
to different environments.
Also, I learned how to appreciate the differences within a group and
learned how to be more flexible."
Abimbola Brown, Summer 1999
"Studying
abroad in Quebec City was probably the best decision of my life.
I not only learned more about the world and other cultures, but I alo
came
back having a better understanding of myself and my own expanding
capabilities.
I matured more in those six weeks abroad than in the twenty years
preceding
the experience. Quebec's
charm must come from the friendly people and safe yet still very
exciting
atmosphere. It's like Europe but a
little softer around the edges.... I found the school challenging but
with a comfortable air. I was surrounded
by students at Laval with the same goal as myself: to learn French."
Stacy Oliver, Summer 1998
"Quebec
is a beautiful place to spend a summer [with] extremely courteous
people.
The Laval program is pretty much unbeatable. My instructors were
helpful,
considerate
and, most of all, fun....I especially liked attending the excursions.
My group went to a play, a talent show, a boat cruise, a huge
waterfall,
a whitewater rafting trip, and a whale watching trip....One of my
groupmates said that 'You lose nothing by traveling. You don't lose
time from
school and you don't lose money--you can only gain and grow,' and I
don't think anything could be closer to the truth."
Keshawn Harry, Summer 1996
"Quebec
is such a beautiful city and the people are so nice and friendly ...We
learned so much!
The university always has some sort of activity going on. For me Quebec
was the perfect place to go on a
study-abroad because it was more affordable than going to Europe. It
was truly an unforgetable experience.
VIVE LE QUEBEC!"
Prisilla Chastian, Summer 1995
"During
the summer of 1994, I studied for six weeks at Laval University in
Quebec,
Canada.
The time that I was there was nothing short of a wonderful experience.
I learned about a new culture via
classroom instruction and extra-curricula activities....The instructors
that I had were ... always willing to
help me if I informed them of any problems with homework....The City
of Quebec is a safe, clean place to live.
The people are very nice and have come to expect the arrival of eager
students from all over the world who
desire to better their French."
Gary Merritt, Summer 1994
