MOUNTAIN LAURELS:

the ngcsu student Art & literary magazine

Mission Statement

The mission of Mountain Laurels is to publish student creative work, including literature and fine art. The magazine is a recognized student organization, published by NGCSU students, for NGCSU students. It is the only campus publication that showcases visual and written student art.

Honors Day

Intended as a way to honor our students, the magazine release date coincides with Honors Day each April. In addition, we honor individual students for “Best in Fine Art,” “Best in Poetry,” and “Best in Prose” at the Honors Day Awards Banquet."

Sponsoring Mountain Laurels

Mountain Laurels is dependent on the generosity of individuals from the campus and community. Now more than ever, with budget cuts and reduced funding for the arts, we rely on loyal supporters like you to help us continue to publish. In addition, we are looking for opportunities to collaborate fundraising events, and would welcome suggestions.

If you would like to contribute to the mission of Mountain Laurels, please contact the Mountain Laurels faculty, Dr. Amy A. Childers (achilders@ngcsu.edu) or Dr. Michael Marling de Cuellar (MMarling@ngcsu.edu). Donations can be directed to the NGCSU Foundation, specifying Department of English/Mountain Laurels Fund.  For donation information, please visit:

Submissions

All NGCSU students are invited to submit creative writing or artwork. Faculty and staff submissions are also welcome, but students receive first priority. Please e-mail electronic documents or digital photos of artwork to Dr. Amy A. Childers, Faculty Advisor, achilders@ngcsu.edu.
